Case study: A big thank you from Emily Sharples

I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for funding my hair extensions following two craniotomies and a craniectomy.

In October 2025, at just 25 years old, I experienced what we believed was a migraine, which suddenly caused a loss of vision. Thanks to the incredible attention to detail and thoroughness of the medical professionals involved in my care, further neurological investigations were carried out. Although my eyesight itself was healthy, those investigations led to the early discovery of a brain tumour, despite being otherwise completely asymptomatic.

I underwent an awake craniotomy in January, an experience that was both physically and emotionally overwhelming. I am incredibly grateful to the surgical and medical teams who supported me through what was undoubtedly the most challenging day of my life and helped make it feel manageable.

Following multiple surgeries, I lost a significant amount of hair because of the procedures. While this may seem small in comparison to everything else, I have faced, the emotional impact of that loss as a young woman has been profound. Your support in funding my hair extensions has helped restore not only my appearance, but also an important part of my confidence and identity during an exceptionally difficult period.
